Leading on the Legacy:FASA
In a small little town called Pullman. a campus called WSU. fasa was planted by the most inspiring teachers. kuyas. ates. those that came before us. from the overall weekend. there was a true "meaning" of FASA. now after 10 years, the legacy is still growing and expanding. auntie nelly.uncle ces. will and may. the ALUMnS! this is where the roots began. and inspiration has touched many of those after them. in example. the love from my "mentors" back when i was in seattle.sophomore year in high school, exposed to poetry. to knowledge. isangmahal. safety center. ALUMnS. lovelove. I learned from your stories. your memories of WSU FASA. kuya jojo ate maya, kuya free and bobby kuya brian. i'm happy to be a part of that here. keep on touchin the lives of the youth. cos thats when "knowledge" begins. havin the high school students down here for conference was awesome. they know their stuff. got things to say. very nyce for this year to bring them out to the conference.

Had a chance to build with some folks at conference. 1st conference. it was the TRUTH. keynote speakers BJ and Jeffrey Cabusao. I liked how the slideshow showed pictures of the past, the memories, how fasa was 10 years ago. aghhh. there is always a purpose and meaning in fasa. words were powerful. inspiring. jeffrey cabusao had to speak of his experiences. not only did his speech challenge you but it really got you thinking of life and our place in this world.

kmb-dope workshop. new things exposed. that i learned. knowing that round 80 percent of our people in the Philippines is living in poverty. and learning that a small percentage of them own so much of the countries wealth that of which is going to higher elites. capitalism. feudalism. imperialism. 3 terms we learned. only leaving me wanting to learn more about the concepts behind them. cos there is still more that we gotta learn

isangmahal: spoken word is the "stuff." sittin to my cousin during the workshop. he is from western. he left the workshop tellin me that he felt inspired to write. the history behind poetry and different forms of poetry was "new" to me. spoken word is life. this gift can save people. pickin up the pen and write. stories. thoughts. truth. knowledge. thank yous. self. appreciation. growth. nyce how we did the small group activities and folks shared. the music activity was awesome to. good job daya. rj and angel!

all schools showcase were dope!!! dancing was pretty common this year. it was tyte. word.

Gabnet: this was one of the most eye opening workshops that I have ever been to. the "whisper" activity where the girls went around to the guys and whispered in the ears about their experiences, struggles or thoughts of being oppressed by a man was not only empowering. personally, it helped me acknowledge that I Do have A Voice. and that i can use it. maybe some sistas can relate. even being able to participate was the beginning of survival and overcoming these individual battles. we had some strong sistas in the room. even some brothas that apologized. starts with all of us educating one another. in other words, a plant cant grow without light or water. we need the richness of knowledge and truth within a dialogue. whack how at cj's, right after these workshops. a form of "disrespect" was publicly seen by a lotta folks. got em questioning about "what did this brotha take outta this conference these workshops." working with self is important. folks need to be checked and thats how it should be.

CONFERENCE thoughts.

unity. we were all in one room. members of fasa. segregation was there. competition was there. unbalanced support. comfort zones. fasa has more meaning behind it. as a kollective. as an alliance. it's important to come to an understanding. though every fasa is different. every experience is different. looking back to the purpose mission meaning of fasa love fasa family is what's important. kuya once told me. you cant let the little stuff like the issues with others hold u back. i was gonna pack my bags and leave but those words helped me stay because i knew there was a deeper meaning and passion within this kollective here at wsu. we got something special here. this is truly a 2nd family. as a kollective while building networks with different schools....as a FASA KOLLECTIVE...we need to all work together. true that people will take in whatever they wanna take in from fasa. whether its social consciousness. politics. social consumption. potlucks. fasa formals. fun. spoken word. dancing. what not.

it's important for all of us to see each other eye to eye. there is still gonna be those issues. but as a FASA kollective that has expanded over the years. every members input whether small or big in fasa is what helps make the fam keep on keeping on. stronger than it already is. we can't break this bridge. this meaning. this legacy needs to continue. these are times where we will to be stepping in the shoes of the alumns. we will look back. and other folks will live through the experience.

even if the palouse has its wheatfields and farm like smell. there is still old euro. palouse mall. ranchos. wingers(moscow). the ROCK. the api center. the small close knit Family of WSU FASA. we have each other. and only each other here. we are each others strongholds. we are a fam. we look back at the past.10 years lookin back. this aura of fasa love still exists. and we all need to carry it on.

any one else got any critiques. this is a long post. i'll write a 2nd wun laters.lovelove
